AUDREY COPELAND IS OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER
We are proud to welcome Audrey Copeland, President and CEO of the National Asphalt Pavement Association in the USA, as the keynote speaker at SATBinderrr 2022.
Audrey has a PhD in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University. She is a founding member of the Women of Asphalt Council and has served as President of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists. She sits on the Boards of the National Centre for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University and the National Transportation Research nonprofit to improve the US road network.
Full Biography
Audrey Copeland was appointed National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) President & CEO in 2019. Previously, she served as NAPA’s Vice President of Engineering, Research, and Technology beginning in 2012.
She began her career as a highway engineer at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and then went on to be a highway materials research engineer at FHWA’s Turner Fairbank Highway Research Center where she managed asphalt-related research laboratories and projects.
Audrey earned a PhD in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2007 and Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Tennessee Technological University. She is a registered engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Maryland.
Audrey lives in Kensington, Maryland, with her husband, Jose Albertini, and their two children.

- Appointed to the Tennessee Tech Advisory Council for Engineering (her alma mater) in 2021
- Current Board of Directors at TRIP – the National Transportation Research Nonprofit to improve the U.S. highway, road, bridge, and transit network
- Previously served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT) and as President of AAPT in 2018
- Previously served on Board of Directors of the International Society of Asphalt Pavements
RECENT MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
Featured earlier this year in the book, “Reimagining Industry Growth” by Dan Varroney, for the Association’s work in partnering with the industry it serves to co-create solutions to industry issues.
Featured earlier this year in Associations Now for her work, alongside NAPA’s Board and Governance Task Force, in creating a new governance structure. (The latest step in modernizing the Association, following a three-year strategic planning process, major technology upgrades, and navigating the COVID pandemic.)
Interviewed on Illinois Center for Transportation’s The Drive Forward Podcast in 2021, covering various topics from women in the industry to autonomous vehicles.
Represented the industry to New York Times journalist, resulting in national coverage in early 2022.
