Dear SAT Members,
As we reach the end of another fast-paced year, I want to thank every one of you for your contribution to the growth and strength of the Society for Asphalt Technology. Our industry doesn’t leave much space for slow days or easy victories, yet you continue to show the professionalism, curiosity, and technical commitment that keep this Society relevant.
This year showed us something important: SAT is not a legacy organisation looking backward – it is a community actively preparing the future of asphalt technology in South Africa and beyond. Through regional events, webinars, technical talks, committee work and collaboration, we’ve proven that we are willing to learn, adapt and lead.

None of this happens without members who show up, share their expertise, and volunteer their time. As I look back at the year that has been simultaneously too long and too short, I find myself in awe at the work our committees do for our sector and the immense contribution by our esteemed speakers. We see you, and we appreciate you
That said, we are also honest about where we’re heading. The industry is evolving. Materials are changing, standards are tightening, sustainability demands are growing, and digital knowledge is no longer a luxury — it’s a requirement. The year ahead isn’t just a continuation of business as usual. It’s a chance for SAT to raise the standard again, improve access to knowledge, develop new training platforms, and support a wider and more diverse membership across Southern Africa.

In short: 2025 laid the groundwork. 2026 will be about building on it, with intent.
The Society’s strategic path is set, but its success depends on all of us — not only as engaged learners, but as active contributors who care about excellence in our sector. And knowing this community, I have complete confidence we as SAT will continue to lead by example. We certainly have a full calendar mapped out already and can’t wait for what the new year may bring for SAT.
Thank you for your support, your loyalty and your belief in the work we do together. May this holiday season bring you a well-earned break, time with the people who matter, and enough rest to hit the new year with energy and purpose.
Please enjoy just a few more pics of this year’s awesome SAT activities below.
Warmest regards
