This will be SAT Eastern Region’s year-end event and the visit aboard the tanker will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions, catch up and network in a more social, non-technical environment.
Built in 2023, the Atlantic Narval is a next-generation, 20,000-ton capacity tanker designed specifically for the global bitumen trade. As the largest vessel of her class and one of the most technologically advanced carriers in the world, she is purpose-built to transport bitumen at temperatures of 180–200 °C. As a frequent visitor to South Africa, she supports our infrastructure and road construction industries.
The captain will brief you on the logistics of importing bitumen and advancements in bitumen haulage. You will experience firsthand the technology used on board, the storage compartments, as well as best practice in bitumen handling and quality assurance.
Please note that safety boots, vest and gloves are mandatory (gloves can be provided if required as you board the tanker).
Following your 40-minute tour of the vessel, please join the SAT team for social networking, Q&As and lunch at Wilson’s Wharf from 12:30 onwards.
